The Child Care Coordinator is responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of a comprehensive therapeutic program for children of program participants.

Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the Dorchester Family Center program with the following:

• Monitoring the design, implementation, and administration of a comprehensive therapeutic program for children of program participants.
• Planning appropriate therapeutic interventions based on child & family needs, including individual, family, and group counseling, as well as play therapy and educational seminars.
• Participating in multi-disciplinary treatment planning with counselor, collaterals, and other team members.
• Attending meetings and Child Care-focused trainings with IHR and other entities.
• Creating & updating Child Service Plans for each child as needed.
• Attending Plan of Safe Care meetings for all infants to ensure continuity of care.
• Performing client intake, comprehensive assessments, screening, orientation, and assessment functions necessary to complete admission, as required.
• Updating relevant information for mother and child upon admission, reunification, and discharge.
• Scheduling the monthly activities calendar and weekly childcare schedule.
• Overseeing the planning & communication of daily activities and school vacation (indoor and outdoor, weather permitting) activities to families with staff support.
• Serving as the Primary Contact and Liaison with the Horizon’s Play space partners and coordinating services with providers such as day-care centers, schools, and summer camps.
• Maintaining positive working relationship with agencies, resources, and families to coordinate services for client care, providing information on substance abuse treatment resources, and making referrals, as needed.
• Maintaining accurate, timely, legible counseling notes and group notes, documenting using the Electronic Health Record in compliance with BHN and other state agency standards.

What are we looking for in a Child Care Coordinator?

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required) along with Child Development experience; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Child development or Early Childhood Education (preferred).
• At least 2 years of experience working with children (preferred).
• Experience in Substance Use Disorder or Mental Health (required).
• Ability to develop rapport with substance-abusing populations and families.
• Ability to apply organizational management skills and maintain self and client discipline.
• Ability prepare and maintain required documentation.
• Ability to comply with internal, local, state, and federal regulations and policies.
• Ability to work and communicate with others.
• Ability to think outside of the box and show creativity and initiative in engaging children and families.
